Lace-up your running shoes and join us for our Inaugural Run Discrimination Out of Town virtual walkathon/runathon! We invite you to join us in creating inclusive communities that enhance opportunities for all.

What is Run Discrimination Out of Town?

Run Discrimination Out of Town is new fundraiser being held by The Fair Housing Center! People of all ages are invited to get pledges from their family, friends, and neighbors and come together to complete a virtual walkathon/runathon. Some create teams and others participate as individuals.

What is a Virtual Walkathon/Runathon?

A virtual walkathon/runathon is an event that allows participants to complete a designated distance at their own pace and in their own location. Unlike traditional walkathons/runathons, where participants gather at a specific location and complete the distance together, virtual events provide flexibility for participants to participate from anywhere in the world.

Will there be in-person events?

Yes, The Fair Housing Center is proudly partnering with Metroparks Toledo and will be hosting three in-person events. Our events are intended to be accessible and open to all. The following are the event locations and times:

• August 26, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at Wildwood Metropark at the Whitetail Shelter
  
• September 9, 2023, from 1:00 - 4:00 P.M. at Oak Openings Metropark at the Mallard Lake Shelter
• September 30, 2023, from 1:00 - 4:00 P.M. at Pearson Metropark at the Pearson Playground Shelter

How to Get Started

1. Register
2. Gather your sponsors with our sponsorship form
3. Walk or Run - Log your miles between August 26 - September 30 using whatever method you choose. To be included on our Leaderboard please fill out our mileage tracker and submit it every Saturday during the event.
4. Come celebrate with us at one of our three in-person events. These are family friendly events and are open to everyone including your pets!
5. Once the event has completed we will email you a link and a QR code for you to share with your sponsors so they can fulfill their pledges online. The deadline for sponsors to fulfill their pledges is October 20, 2023.

Please note: Once you register, all other activities are optional. The way you participate is limited only by your creativity!

Registration Fee: $20.00 until July 24, 2023 ($25 beginning July 25, 2023)

Please register by August 6, 2023 to guarantee you event t-shirt

To be added to the leaderboard, please e-mail the following information to events@toledofhc.org.

• Your Name
• Team Name (if applicable)
• Miles to add or your updated mileage form

Leaderboards will go live on September 5, 2023, so please submit your initial mileage by September 2, 2023. You can report miles weekly or as a grand total. To be included in the individual, team and event totals, miles must be submitted each Saturday by 11:59 P.M. to ensure that your total will be updated on the following Monday. Please submit your final mileage count by October 1, 2023.
